Video from The Uptown Unveiled
I made a little video from footage I shot at the Uptown Unveiled last week. I’m looking forward to making more short videos like this, but it’s actually a lot harder than I thought it would be. I think the night shots look great, but it’s really difficult to keep people in focus when shooting video in low light. In fact, it’s really difficult to keep things in focus in general with this type of camera (manual focus/35mm sensor). The audio is also not great, obviously.
But it does have its moments. I love the people in the video who think that I’m taking a photo and start posing. Also the kid dancing with his mom (right around the 3:45 mark) is possibly the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.
Event Photography - The Uptown Unveiled
There was a big festival in Oakland last night called The Uptown Unveiled. There was a lot of stuff going on (skateboarding, BMX, bands, dancing, welding demos) and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Plus there were no riots or shootings. So that was nice.
I took a few pictures, but I shot a ton of video. It’s going to take a little while to get the video footage edited into something I can post online, but here are some photos:
Featured in Rock ‘n Roll Bride
Ever since I started doing wedding photography, I’ve been following a blog called Rock ‘n Roll Bride which features photos from unique and awesome weddings. The weddings that Kat features on her blog are always interesting, and a great source of inspiration for wedding photographers. So I’m super stoked that a wedding I just shot was featured on Rock ‘n Roll Bride today!
Wedding Photography - Kristin and Bess - Halfmoon Bay
Kristin and Bess were married at the Tunitas Creek Ranch in Halfmoon Bay on June 6th, 2009. This was one of the most beautiful and stylish weddings I’ve shot, and I’m so happy that these two wonderful people have found each other. I can’t understand how anyone could look at a beautiful, loving, and committed couple like this and say that they don’t deserve the same rights as other married people. I’m very confident that sane thinking people will eventually win the fight for marriage equality in all 50 states, and in the meantime (as you can see) Prop 8 isn’t stopping same-sex couples in California from having awesome weddings.
Shotgun Wedding! (not really)
I shot Meg and Andy’s wedding in Piedmont Park on May 24th. You will probably notice that the bride is very pregnant. I actually think it will be kind of neat when their daughter is older, they can show her these pictures and say, “Look, you were there!” They also had their pet beagle “Lucy” as their ring bearer which was super adorable.
